Text Message (SMS) Terms

These terms cover text messages sent through OurCharter, a service of Think Tank LLC, doing business as OurCharter. They supplement our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

The program

OurCharter Announcements delivers recurring automated text messages from member organizations you belong to — announcements, meeting and event notices, and similar organization business — plus one-time messages that confirm your number or your consent. Messages come either from a number your organization has registered in its own name or from OurCharter’s number on the organization’s behalf; either way the message names the organization it is from.

How you opt in

  • You verify your own number in an organization’s Communication Preferences: you enter your mobile number, tick the agreement box, and confirm a 6-digit code we text you.
  • An officer adds your number. We send one text asking you to reply YES. Nothing else is sent to that number unless you reply YES.

Consent is not a condition of membership in any organization or of using OurCharter.

Message frequency and cost

  • Message frequency varies by organization and by how active it is.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Check with your carrier for details of your plan.

How to opt out

  • Reply STOP to any message to cancel. You will receive one final text confirming you have been unsubscribed, and no further messages will be sent from that number. To start again, reply START and then confirm with YES when asked.
  • You can also turn text messages off for any organization in that organization’s Communication Preferences, or by contacting the organization directly.

Carriers

Messages are delivered over major U.S. carrier networks. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed.

Your mobile information

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. The number you verify, and the record of your consent, are used only to deliver the messages described here and to prove that consent was given. We share mobile numbers with our text-messaging provider (Twilio) solely to deliver messages. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
